Objective: To define the design workspace of the system and perform preliminary sizing.
Task 1.1: Definition of the environmental conditions
Objectives: To gather all basic environmental data (wind, wave, current) and defining the environmental design conditions along with the soil characteristics for two locations in the Aegean Sea having a water depth of approximately 200 m.
Task 1.2: Definition of the basic design characteristics of the multi-purpose platform and operational requirements
Objectives: To establish the general layout and dimensions of the floating structure and its components (draft, displacement, hydrostatic calculations, etc.). To define the sizes (OWC device, W/T), the operating conditions and specification of the W/T (diameter, rated power, drive train layout, structural characteristics of the tower, the aerodynamic characteristics of the blade profiles, maximum allowable deflections, limiting acceleration values, etc.)
